Mango, Mango, and moar Mango...

Don't ask why, but I've been on a huge manga run lately. For some reason, after I've come to the realization that my most favorite series (Witch Hunter, the Manhwa) has been SO SLOW on its updates, I've decided to go ahead and explore for more series to learn about. Now while everyone will tell me: OH LOOK AT THIS or THIS SERIES IS AMAZING, personally I don't share the same interests as most. I personally HATE Bleach, and only recently got into Naruto based upon the human complexities of the main character. Personally, I'm big in a series that starts in reality, and then branches into a fantasy world out of the norm. One perfect example of this series is Rosario + Vampire. The main character goes about his normal business but accidently stumbles upon a world of demons and monsters and tries to make a living with them. That's a good series, minus all the ecchi scenes. Also, I'm not big into classical shounen manga and whatnot, as I'm bigger into reality and slice of life. Either way, I'll go ahead and critique my point of view on my previous favorites and some new ones I've gotten into...

1) Witch Hunter: This series is not a manga, but a Manhwa. What a Manhwa is for those of you who don't know, is a Korean version of a manga/comic. It shares the same artistic traits and whatnot, but it's all about the region of origin in honesty. Witch Hunter begins with our main character traveling to a classical Camelot like castle and being thrown in prison for threatening to burn it down. Now while he did threaten to burn it down, the guards were kinda assholes for not allowing him in, since all he wanted to do was have a puppet show with his pumpkin-like puppet. While in prison, he meets some cute, yet mysterious girl in there who explains what "Witch Hunters" are and the "WH". Now while our main character hears this (Btw, his name is Tasha... lol), he also wants them to be punished for flaunting around their fame and whatnot, and while he wants their punishment to be done, the girl reveals that she is a witch and pops out for some complete ROFLstomping. The three Witch Hunters who were flaunting their fame got completely beat and then, our Main Character Tasha pops out and where you'd think he's like a normal stereo-typical main character with morals and whatnot, it's a lie. He doesn't do ANYTHING till be BRIBES the other Witch Hunters, and THEN he gets his hands dirty with some AWESOME abilities and whatnot. Either way, I LOVE this series and hope you will too, but don’t expect chapter updates quickly, I’ve been waiting 4 months for a chapter update, or I've gotten nothing...
The Pumpkin is a trap...

2) The World God Only Knows: Is honestly a GREAT manga to get into! I stumbled upon it accidentally while browsing some animu, and decided I'd give it a shot! It's somewhat adorable, but mainly exactly what I was looking for. It starts off with our main character Kiema living in his own world of Video Games. He is obsessed with his genre of "Female Games" where his objective is to get them to fall in love with you. He sees the girls of the real world as imperfect and decides that the only girls for him are the ones from video games, as he's beaten literally thousands of them! The twist comes when he receives an email on his PFP (Rip off of PSP), and claims he is not a real "Capturing God" until he's faced a new challenge. The challenge is for him to capture girls in real life with the help of a demon! The Demon is an adorable klutz named Elsie and she is not really good at anything but cleaning and cooking VERY odd meals. The bad part is both of them are under contract, and if they fail the contract, they lose their heads. All in all, our main character takes the strategies from his experience of video games and applies them into real life where he begins to get the attention of many women! The story develops and gets better each chapter, so I heavily suggest this one!

Players gunna play...

3) Bakuman: Wow! You wanna talk about a great series that will get your attention, well here it is! This one is great because it stays within the bounds of reality without going outside of the lines at all! This is something new and I absolutely love it! If there is one thing I'm sick of, it's a cliché shounen that just looks like Naruto or Bleach that comes waltzing along and doesn't add anything new to it's genre. This series is awesome and receives my highest praise for its efforts! It starts out with a 14 year old male who sees nothing flashy in his future. He just wants a normal cliché life and just wants to get by, but when he leaves his notebook behind in school to be found by another classmate, things begin to get interesting. It's learned that he has a HUGE talent to draw, and that he's secretly in love with another beautiful girl in his class. After a few pages of constant begging, our main character teams up with the smartest boy in his class to make a manga together! The best part is when you cheer him on, because he went to the girl of his dreams house, and asked her that if both their dreams came true, would they marry each other? She ran back into her house, but called back to him saying yes! Now he's fighting harder than ever to just get noticed with his ally and his tools. This series has great slice of life to it and applies great comical evidence! Truly a wonderful series honestly and I give it 2 thumbs up and HIGH recommendation!

Bitches love smiley faces...

4) Rosario + Vampire: Like I stated above, this series is about a male who lives in the real world, and accidentally stumbles into a world of monsters and demons. What makes it more interesting is that the girl he's attracted to is considered the most dangerous of monsters, "An S-Class Vampire". Now this has been out for a while, and it's great and all, but it began to lose its touch when Moka was all the reader was focused on. I personally am a Mizore fan and claim her as my waifu and all that jazz, but what really got my attention was the latest chapter! Kurumu, our succubus, has been after our main character for ages now, and while he's been trying to transform from his normal human self to something more in which to save Moka from capture, he loses himself to become a blood thirsty ghoul. Kurumu couldn't accept this, and at risk of her own life, she dives through an offensive barrier and plants a loving kiss on his lips. The reason it grabbed my attention was, ITS A TWIST! As we know, when a succubus kisses a man, she claims them and makes them her bitch, and while we ALL know this is a harem manga (Not my biggest fav), she really jumped out of the "Side character" role and took a main approach. I'm proud of this new development and honestly, I can't wait to see more!
Skittles, taste the rainbow...

5) Bleach: IN ALL HONESTY, THIS SERIES WAS GOOD THEN LOST IT ALL! In the beginning, we had an AMAZING POTENTIAL, BUT WHEN WE LOSE GREAT IDEAS AND DECIDE TO THROW CRAP AND RIPOFFS FROM OTHER SERIES, WE GET THIS. WELCOME TO BLEACH LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE UTTER DISGRACE TO OUR KNOWN WORLD. I've said it millions of times, so instead of just repeating myself, I'll simply say this: Chapters 1-100 are great and have wonderful development, but 101+ is nothing but crap and needs to be forgotten. The series has honestly dived down since Ichigo (The Main Character) IS ALL POWERFUL AND TITE KUBO LOVES TO TROLL HIS FANS. Wake up people, and DROP this piece of crap...
NUFF SAID!!!

6) Karakuridouji Ultimo: This series is 50/50 with me. The reason it caught my attention was because it had the name "Stan Lee" on it. In case you don't know who that is, that's the creator of Spider-Man and many other Marvel super heroes. When I noticed Stan Lee's name on it, I was curious if he really did branch out and enter the world of Manga, only to find out HE LITTERALY DID! The story is good and I suggest you check it out, but all I'm gunna say is that Dun Stan is the manga version of Stan Lee in real life and he's a total badass. Simply put, I give Stan Lee +10 points for doing this. Two downfalls to this however, half the boys are traps and it's VERY awkward, and it's updates are as slow as Witch Hunter...
Fangirls be warned...

7) Other: Being honest, I decided to take a gander at the series Fairy Tale, and honestly, while the art distracted me for thinking it was a One Piece rip off, the first chapter really got my attention. I might look into it more, but I don't plan on getting big with it. In my opinion, Witch Hunter, Bakuman, TWGOK, and Rosario + Vampire season one and two are good reads. Pick them up, and also I'll get into it in the future, but D. Gray-Man is a fantastic series also as it has some great WTF moments!
Please sweet Jesus, don't fall for this incest...
